i know that this is a very depressing topic for a blog entry. but then again, it’s something that everyone is experiencing right now. we may be directly or indirectly affected by the effects of the global economic crisis.

i could say that i’m still stable with my job, thank God! but no more overtime (thus, no overtime pay). anyhow, the things that i could do is just save and control myself not to buy things that are not necessities.

self-control.. that’s what i really need.

caught myself complaining again. tsk tsk..

really should learn how to count my blessings and be thankful for what God has been providing me.

if there are things in our past that you would change, what would be it?

have you experienced saying something and then right after you said it, realized that you should have just shut your mouth? i did, a lot of times.

sometimes, i catch myself telling things that i shouldn’t be telling other people. i catch myself revealing too many things that i should’ve kept secret.

argh! maybe i should shut up now.

Happy Hearts Day!

It’s that time of the year once again when the prices of flowers and chocolates increase, and restaurants, especially the classy ones, are fully-booked weeks before. Valentine’s concerts and romantic movies are also adamant.

While the ladies from the rest of the world waits for guys to make them feel special on this day, the women here in Japan are the ones buying chocolates for the men. Unlike the other countries, it is customary to give chocolates to men on Valentine’s Day. Most girls take this opportunity to “make a move” to the guy they like. If a guy receives chocolates from a girl, that usually means that the girl likes him (unless the girl gave everyone chocolates).

As for me, I don’t follow this Japanese custom. As I tell my officemates, I’m not Japanese and I still would prefer to be the one receiving chocolates on this day. :)

Put numbers instead of x’s (1, 2, 3, 4…).

I was tagged by Tine at facebook for this survey.. So here goes..

1. My birthday is on the feast of St. John the Baptist. It’s also Manila Day, and since I spent my high school and college years in Manila, my birthday’s always a holiday. And when I was in high school, I was sharing that birthday with 2 other friends (Tine Costes and Tina Clavio).

posted in my other site last oct. 15, 2008

yesterday, me and some of my japanese colleagues were talking about relationships and settling down. one of them told me about makegumi. The real meaning of the word is “loser” like losing in Olympics or tournaments. But aside from this kind of meaning, he told me that if a person reaches the age above 30 years old, he/she is already considered makegumi.

I’m already 26 years old and sometimes I feel the pressure to get hitched soon. But I know, this kind of decision should not be done hastily. But hopefully, I wouldn’t be makegumi. (^_^)

Currently at work, I’m doing an upgraded version of an in-house system. It was developed using MS Access, and now, they want a VB.NET 2.0 and SQL Server 2005 version.

One of the reports that I’ll use needs the date in Japanese format. [The Japanese date format uses eras. For example, we're in 2008; in japanese calendar, that's Heisei 20.] It took me some time to figure out how to do that.
