forwarding my sister’s email about the “black saturday experience” project. and by the way, she’s the one who composed the song:

We invite you to enter the enter the experience of Black Saturday. Visit the site below to help you and guide you in your reflection. As the beloved John the Apostle, enter into the experience of passion and death of Jesus. Experience not just the pain, but more so, experience the love Jesus has for us. It is through entering, being with Jesus in his suffering that we can also appreciate and prepare ourselves to be surprised with the joy of resurrection.

We all pray you have a personal, deep encounter with God during this holy week.

Sidenote: “Experience Black Saturday” project is made possible with the help of Ro Atilano, SJ (who sang “awit ng pangungulila” and made the moving video), Junjun del Monte, SJ (who arranged the song and played it on keyboard), Ces Brana (who delivered the reflection), Haluen Amit, OCD (who interpreted the song on guitar), Mark Guevarra (who was kind to help us with the recording) and Angel (who helped us with technical stuff during the recording), the Augustinians of the Assumption community (for lending us the keyboard) and my sister, Marizel who did the website.

in my 3-year stay here in japan, i’ve never experienced attending a wedding (except for one time when the wedding was incorporated in the saturday anticipated mass at Mikokoro and we’re asked to sing). fiona and henky’s wedding would be my first.

when we learned that they’re getting married, the whole choir was excited. we were witnesses to how their love came to be, and we’re only too happy to be help them in any way that we can.

the wedding was so solemn and so wonderful. fiona’s so beautiful, and when she was walking down the aisle, i can’t help but smile (i think i almost cried!). i liked the part wherein the two went to their parents and kneeled and received blessings.

in the reception, the food were delicious. though it’s quite different with Filipino weddings, but it’s interesting just the same. I noticed that they love dancing! I think people danced 3x, and it’s not slow dance! it’s really fun and even the Japanese were game enough to join the dances.

and about the songs we sang, they were okay. i’m just glad that we were able to be a part of their wedding celebration.

to henky and fiona, congratulations!
